Lorraine's swimmin' 100 miles for Hospicare
I'll swim 100 miles to raise $1,000 for Hospicare between March 15 and August 11
Help me raise vital funds for medical expertise and emotional, spiritual, and practical care for patients and their families by making a donation in support of my swim.
Your donation to Women Swimmin' will ensure that compassionate end-of-life care is available to anyone in Tompkins or Cortland counties who needs it, regardless of their ability to pay.
Please join me in supporting Hospicare's important work.

Getting closer! It was a beautiful morning in the lake today and I'm moving ever closer to my goal of 100 miles by August 12.
Bumped into a couple of Women Swimmin' first-timers after my swim and enjoyed chatting with them about the event. It's so amazing to come together with a group of awesome ladies to do something meaningful for Hospicare. Support a swimmer if you can!

I really enjoyed today's sunrise swim, with a little breeze across the top of the lake adding some interesting splash. As I swam into shore, I realized that I had reached the 60 mile mark. I've still got a few to go, but I'm feeling more confident that I'll reach my goal to swim 100 miles by Women Swimmin' day on August 12.
7/10 = 60 miles done, 40 miles to go.

13 more miles!
Another 13 miles under my swim cap in the last couple of weeks. I'm trying hard to make up for lost time and keep on working up the miles to reach 100 by August 12!
6/28 = 46.5 miles done, 53.5 miles to go.

Back in the water!
After a longer-than-expected break, I'm back in the water! I enjoyed a blissful 1.2 miles in the lake last night and counted my lucky stars to be healthy again.
I've got some miles to make up, but still hoping to get to 100 miles by August 11.
6/15 = 33.5 miles done, 66.5 to go.
Lots of happy swimming ahead!

32.3 miles done!
After racking up 11 more miles in the past couple of weeks, I'm taking a bit of a break from swimming to recover from some minor shoulder/scapula surgery. I'll be back in the pool in no time, and perhaps then it'll be time to get in the lake! Looking forward to those lake miles. Thanks for supporting me!

20.3 miles. . .
9.8 miles, or 17,300 yards, or 346 laps, or 692 lengths. . . however you dice it, I managed to get some good distance done in the pool in the past week and a half, bringing my total to 20.3 miles.
I spent my time in the pool feeling grateful, happy to be doing something that fills me with joy, while thinking of others who are not so fortunate. In the locker room, I heard someone praising the good work of the bereavement team at Hospicare. They offer grief support and counseling to many folks in our community, regardless of whether their loved one used hospice services. I know that the funds raised by Women Swimmin' make this possible. Read more about their work on the Hospicare website, click on Grief Support.
Thank you to all of you who have supported me so far. . . fantastic friends, workmates, neighbors, and swim buddies. Thank you all! Your support matters and makes a difference.
